Play it Safe

As the plot of Pixar’s “The Incredibles” unfolds, the heroine, Helen Parr, meets with Edna Mode, the designer of the Supers’ suits. Edna shows Helen the suits she’s designed for the whole Parr family—starting with the baby. Helen is quite exasperated by this baby suit, and asks Edna what she thought the baby would be doing to require it. Edna replies, “Well, I’m sure I don’t know, darling. Luck favors the prepared.”

Turns out the baby suit would come in handy—though not in the movie. Just like super heroes can’t predict a need for protection against a villain’s spontaneous attacks, you can’t predict a disaster at your business! I’ll admit I’m being a bit of an alarmist. But the truth is “disasters” happen. It doesn’t have to be a major catastrophe, especially if you’re prepared.

For instance, at some point, your computer hardware will fail. If you’re really lucky, you’ll have a bit of warning before it does, but you probably won’t. If you’ve got a good system backup—which I’ve suggested before—your data might be safe. You might even have a spare server sitting around. Everything’s good, right? Well…maybe not. If the hardware that fails is the dialer card—and this has happened to a customer—that backup and spare server won’t help!  Most people don’t have a spare dialer card hanging around and it may take a few days to get a new one.

Or, what happens if a construction crew cuts the phone line to your dialer? If you’re in a remote office, you might still have phone service, but your predictive dialing still comes to a complete stop. (This, too, has happened to a customer.)

CT Impact Risk Management…TO THE RESCUE! However, IAT provides a service to help mitigate the effects of this kind of disaster—CT Impact Risk Management. It works like this: For a small service fee, we’ll reserve lines on our cloud-based service. If your dialer meets an untimely demise, you can use CT Impact while you’re waiting for the replacement hardware.

Being a super hero is a risky business. When their airplane was shot down over a remote island, Helen Parr counseled her children to be prepared to protect their identity and use their powers. A good super suit lessens the risk. CT Impact can help protect you from threats to your dialing. Best of all it doesn’t have a cape to cause your premature end, so there’s no need to listen to Edna’s “No capes!” speech. “
